If you're reading this I owe my web designer more cashola because it means you've been hooked. That's right fishies enjoy the ride as I reel you in! Growing up in small-town Iowa (Oskaloosa) had major benefits. It was definitely an atmosphere where a hard working semi-talented kid could freely explore many sports and activities without facing dream crushing humiliation. I was a four sport athlete in high-school, excelling in wrestling and baseball. In my spare time, which was rare, I strapped on the old jazz shoes and did some competition dance. That's right...I did competition dance in rural Iowa...not a typo. Still finding myself with a bit of extra time in high school I had to do more. Children's theatre. For 3 years I found myself traveling to grade-schools, nursing homes, and Elk's lodges playing one of the three billy-goats Gruff and wearing stark florescent clothing. Throughout all of my exploits growing up I received mucho encouragement from both my Mom and Dad. Many thanks!
I carried on my tradition of being ludicrously busy through college. I attended a small liberal arts private college (Simpson College) where I decided to double major (Sociology and Theatre Arts), join a local fraternity (Kappa Theta Psi), play sports (football and rugby) and party (like a rockstar). It was during this time that I decided my path in life. Realizing my future in football was limited I decided to focus earnestly on my performance talents. It was here that I discovered my love for storytelling. Having earned my B.A. in two fields I made the ballsy decision to go for it and audition for acting graduate schools while I was still young and sexy.
The lucky winner of the Colter Allison lottery was the University of Georgia at Athens. This was by far the most pivotal 3 years of my professional career. I discovered that my previous talents were extremely raw and unfocused. I also honed my directing and producing skills as well. My summers were spent doing professional theatre in Long Island and Virginia. Executing several styles of performance was key to my success as a graduate student and as a young professional actor. Turning into a “jack of all trades” type of performer would soon prove beneficial. During my final year in the MFA program I booked a co-star role on the uber popular Dawson's Creek along with a handful of small on camera gigs in the Atlanta area. This could only mean one thing...HOLLYWOOD STARDOM!
That's right, like millions of big fish in small pond actors before me, it was time to drive cross country to L.A. and get smacked in the face by the industry. Loving every minute of the rejection process that actors go through I decided to stick through it. Every year gaining more and more momentum, climbing the ladder from student films to shorts to industrials to regional commercials to independent films to the coveted NATIONAL COMMERCIAL! Realizing that the mythology (big breaks & big money) attached to national commercials was just that, a myth, I've recently focused on the theatrical area of my career. Working in a few casting offices in L.A. has exposed me to the business side of film making along with the realities all actors face, no matter what level they are at.
So at the present time I'm the single most fascinating, riveting and explosive performer you've never seen. I'm working to change that.
